Saw a Squatch Privacy Policy
Last revised October 29, 2026.
Saw a Squatch is operated by Send It Media LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“we”, “us”).
Saw a Squatch is a social app for exploring reported Sasquatch sightings and interacting with other members. Questions or privacy requests: whoop@sawasquatch.com.
Information we handle
- Account information: email address, account identifier, profile name, and any profile details you choose to provide.
- Community content: posts, comments, sightings reports, reactions, follows, and messages you submit. Public posts and their associated profile details may be visible to other members.
- Location: when you grant permission, your location while using the app to show nearby reports and alerts. Locations you attach to reports may be displayed approximately to other members. With your permission, the launch version may request background location access to detect nearby reported sightings and produce WHOOP alerts while the phone is locked or the app is not open. You can disable this permission in your device settings.
- Device and service data: push notification tokens if notifications are enabled, session and authentication records, diagnostics and security-related access records needed to operate the service.
- Payments: if optional paid tiers become available, subscription status and transaction references may be processed through the relevant store or authorized payment processor. We do not need your full card number to activate a subscription.
How we use information
We use it to create accounts, provide sightings/maps and member features, determine nearby sighting alerts using permitted location information, send requested notifications, support subscriptions where available, answer support inquiries, prevent abuse, review reports, and keep the service secure.
Who receives information
We use hosted infrastructure and service providers to run the app, including Supabase for authentication and database services and Expo-related push infrastructure for notifications. When purchases are offered, Apple, Google, RevenueCat, or Stripe may process transactions or subscription records depending on the purchasing method. We share data with such providers only as needed to operate the features in use, and may disclose information where legally required.
Community visibility and location safety
Other users may see content you choose to post publicly. Historical sightings may be based on unverified reports. Do not post your precise home location or another person's private information. You can manage location and notification permissions in your device settings.
Retention and account deletion
We retain account and community data while needed to operate the service. You can request or initiate deletion using the in-app Profile → Delete account control when available, or email whoop@sawasquatch.com. Deletion removes the account and associated data according to applicable requirements. Limited records may be retained when necessary for legal obligations, payment accounting, fraud prevention, or security; backups may require additional time to expire. We will explain any retention that applies to your request.
Emails and your choices
We use your account email for essential service messages, including account confirmation and welcome information. Promotional emails are optional and require a separate opt-in. You can opt out of promotional emails without deleting your account. We use an email-delivery provider to send messages and maintain marketing preferences.
You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data by contacting whoop@sawasquatch.com. You may also turn off optional location and notification permissions through iOS or Android settings. Additional rights may apply depending on where you live.
Children
Saw a Squatch is for people 13 and older; members under 18 need a parent's or guardian's permission. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have, we delete the account and its information. Parents or guardians can contact whoop@sawasquatch.com.
Security
We use authentication, encrypted connections, access restrictions, and security controls intended to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Updates and contact
We may update this policy as features and legal requirements evolve and will revise the date above. Contact: whoop@sawasquatch.com.
